ONEPLUS 3T: Is it a breath of fresh air?
- The OnePlus 3T shares a similar look with its older brother, the OnePlus 3. The company hasn’t changed the design meaning that you get a sleek look coupled with high quality space-grade aluminum alloy on the new 3T.
- The company has doubled the resolution of the front-facing camera and has some interesting features. You now get a 16-megapixel front shooter in the OnePlus 3T as opposed to 8-megapixel front camera in the OnePlus 3 with ‘smile capture.’
- On the display front, the OnePlus 3T comes with a 5.5-inch full-HD Optic AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080x1920 pixels and pixel density of 401ppi. The display is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Same as OnePlus 3.
- The main attraction of the device is the state-of-the art Qualcomm Snapdgraon 821 processor. To recall, the OnePlus 3 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. However, there is no upgradation in the RAM, which still stands at 6GB.
- The major difference between the 821 and 820 processor is that the former is more power efficient than that latter and can run on full speed for a longer period of time as compared to the QS 820 processor.
- In terms of rear camera, the OnePlus 3T comes with the same 16- megapixel rear camera as we have seen in the OnePlus 3. Also there is a new ‘Intelligent Pixel Technology’ which minimizes noise. The camera also has a sapphire lens cover now.
- Another upgradation comes in battery. The all-new OnePlus 3T comes with a 3400mAh battery, which is 13 per cent more as compared to the OnePlus 3’s 3000mAh battery capacity. It still comes with Dash Charge!
- In terms of storage option, the device sports a 64GB of internal storage with no expandable storage option. And this time the brand has also come up with a 128GB storage option for power users.
- The OnePlus 3T runs on Android Marshmallow with company’s OxygenOS on top of it. The company has announced that it will releasing the latest OxygenOS based on Android 7.0 Nougat by the end of this year for both OnePlus and OnePlus 3T.
- The smartphone is available in gunmetal and soft gold variants and will be available the US from November 22, in Europe from November 26, and in the UK from November 28. We have no dates for India, however.
Smartphone Bazaar Bargain
Still scouting for a phone that excels in mobile photography?
Look no further - and simply grab the Lenovo Vibe Shot for Rs. 17,449 that,
too, in red color. We aren’t joking, seriously. The Vibe Shot would have been a
success, had it been launched at a slightly less market price. It was launched at
Rs. 25,499, unfortunately. But, anyway, the Vibe Shot is a solid camera phone,
laced with a 16-megapixel rear shooter with tricolor flash and optical image stabilization
(OIS). Moreover, it comes with a dedicated shutter button that raises bar as a
camera-centric phone. You also get the Pro mode and some advanced settings,
something not many smartphones have. The device is worth investing in, if you
actually love photography, and it still looks gorgeous.
BlackBerry’s first Android smartphone, the Priv, has got a massive
price drop in India. The BlackBerry Priv received negative-to-mixed reviews,
and didn’t sell as expected as the company initially hoped for, mainly because
of a stiff price tag. If you’re looking for a smartphone that not only runs
Android but even come with a physical keyboard - we at least think that the
BlackBerry Priv is for you. On Amazon.in, the Priv is selling for Rs. 34,000,
down from its original price of Rs. 62,999. So basically, you get a discount of
Rs. 28,999. The Priv features a 5.4-inch dual-curved display having a
resolution of 2560x1440, a Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM and yes, what’s
unique about the BlackBerry Priv though is the nostalgic physical keyboard,
which slides down from behind the phone. Sweet deal, we say.
WhatsApp video calling feature
When it comes to messaging your friends or family, only one
app comes to our mind—WhatsApp. The app has made a special place in our life
and has become a primary source of interacting with your near and dear ones.
And the application is evolving continuously with the developers rolling out
some interesting features through which you can now communicate more
effectively than ever. In April, it made chats secure with end-to-end encryption
and recently gave you the ability to add fun elements to the photos and videos
you share. And now the company has added a feature a lot of users were
hankering for—video calling. WhatsApp announced that a new video calling
feature would be rolling out to Android, iOS and Windows Phone users. The new
feature, which was there for beta testing for a while now, will be available to
over 1 billion WhatsApp users around the globe. The latest video calling
feature can be considered as one of the biggest updates rolled out of the
company as it will allow almost 1 billion WhatsApp users to video call their
near and dear ones, which so much of ease. And using the feature is typically
easy. But before you get started, you need to update your application to the
latest version. WhatsApp said the updates will be rolled out in batches, so if
you haven’t got it, yet don’t worry your app will be updated soon. But once
your app is updated with the latest version, then all you need to do is
following:
- · Open WhatsApp and select the contact you want to video call. But mind you, the other person should also have the updated app otherwise the video call will fail.
- ·
When you open the chat, then there will be a
phone which is present at the top of the screen. There will be a popup which
will show the voice call or video call option. Press on video call and voila,
you just made your first WhatsApp call.
Calling from an iOS device is also similar, but you get two icons which further make it easier to call. The user interface of the call is very minimal and simple. At the bottom of the screen you will see end, mute or camera switch button. The beauty of this new feature is that you can minimize the call and use different applications as well. So carry on video calling!
Motorola Moto 360 Sport Smartwatch
When Motorola launched the second-generation Moto 360 at last year’s IFA Berlin trade show, not many were expecting to see a sport version of the smartwatch. And if you are into fitness and running, the Moto 360 Sport should be a perfect fit. The Sport model stands out because it has a built-in GPS, meaning it will work independently on its own when tracking your fitness activities. The Moto 360 Sport also comes with a silicon strap to withstand all the sweat and dirt, like most fitnesscentric watches. The Moto 360 Sport uses a ‘hybrid’ display that promises easy visibility outdoors. The special edition of the Moto 360 (2015) has got a price cut and is now available for Rs. 14,999, down from its original price of Rs. 19,999. A super deal for smartwatch loving fitness geeks, say we!
Microsoft Lumia 950 Dual SIM
Microsoft is cutting the price of its Lumia 950 Dual SIM in
India. The Redmond company has dropped a whopping Rs. 13,701 off the Lumia 950,
making the smartphone available for Rs. 29,998. This is the first official
price cut passed by the Redmond giant on its current flagship device. The deal
is available at the company’s official website and Flipkart. Whilst the Lumia
950 Dual SIM has not sold as quickly as the company might expected it to be,
the device still has good value for users, owing to the fact that the handset
could actually act as a desktop PC with a little help from the Microsoft
Display dock. If you have been off a purchase of the Lumia 950 Dual SIM, now
might be a good time to buy one.
