When it comes to messaging your friends or family, only one
app comes to our mind—WhatsApp. The app has made a special place in our life
and has become a primary source of interacting with your near and dear ones.
And the application is evolving continuously with the developers rolling out
some interesting features through which you can now communicate more
effectively than ever. In April, it made chats secure with end-to-end encryption
and recently gave you the ability to add fun elements to the photos and videos
you share. And now the company has added a feature a lot of users were
hankering for—video calling. WhatsApp announced that a new video calling
feature would be rolling out to Android, iOS and Windows Phone users. The new
feature, which was there for beta testing for a while now, will be available to
over 1 billion WhatsApp users around the globe. The latest video calling
feature can be considered as one of the biggest updates rolled out of the
company as it will allow almost 1 billion WhatsApp users to video call their
near and dear ones, which so much of ease. And using the feature is typically
easy. But before you get started, you need to update your application to the
latest version. WhatsApp said the updates will be rolled out in batches, so if
you haven’t got it, yet don’t worry your app will be updated soon. But once
your app is updated with the latest version, then all you need to do is
following:
- · Open WhatsApp and select the contact you want to video call. But mind you, the other person should also have the updated app otherwise the video call will fail.
- ·
When you open the chat, then there will be a
phone which is present at the top of the screen. There will be a popup which
will show the voice call or video call option. Press on video call and voila,
you just made your first WhatsApp call.
Calling from an iOS device is also similar, but you get two icons which further make it easier to call. The user interface of the call is very minimal and simple. At the bottom of the screen you will see end, mute or camera switch button. The beauty of this new feature is that you can minimize the call and use different applications as well. So carry on video calling!
